snow

Yes, it’s that time of year again.

When the temperature drops, and snow falls all around.

Except that it usually doesn’t around here.  Winter usually means it’s slightly less cold and more wet than summer.  Slightly.

We very rarely see any snow.  So, when it does fall I get very excited – in an excited young child sort of way.  Now, when I was working I absolutely hated snowy days.  We were expected to get into work whatever the conditions.  We were even told to ignore police messages urging only essential travel.  And it meant that school was closed so we had to try to arrange emergency child care.

Anyway, it snowed last weekend.  Yay!  Not here exactly, but about 20 miles north they had an absolute dumping of the stuff.

Naturally I had to drive there just to see what it was like.  And it was lovely.  Picture postcard lovely in fact.

The only thing letting it down was that it was too windy to fly my drone and get any decent aerial footage of the scene.  So, I was limited to stills from ground level, but managed to capture two images (one yesterday when it was lovely and sunny, the other today when it was angry and cloudy).

I wonder if we’ll have a white Christmas this year?  That’d be nice.
